Turkey (Türkiye) and worldwide routes
Medical Repatriation to and from Turkey
A planned medical transfer from the treating bedside to the next destination.
ESAT coordinates medical repatriation to and from Turkey (Türkiye) for patients who need medical support during travel. We support holidaymakers, residents and patients travelling after treatment, with an individual clinical review before transport is agreed.
Requests may involve Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, İzmir, Bodrum, Dalaman and other locations. We assess the current hospital, destination and care requirements rather than selecting a flight before the medical plan is clear.
A transfer can connect Turkey with the UK, elsewhere in Europe, Australia, Asia, the Middle East or the Americas. ESAT manages the journey point-to-point, including local ground transport and the receiving handover.
We work with families, treating hospitals, insurers and assistance companies. If travel follows medical treatment, the current clinical report and any ongoing care needs are important to the assessment.
Medical transport to and from Turkey
The choice between a scheduled flight and a dedicated medical aircraft depends on the patient, route and care required throughout travel.
Medical escorts from Turkey
A clinically stable patient may be able to travel on a scheduled airline with a medical escort. We review seating, mobility, equipment and care requirements and coordinate the airline’s medical clearance process.
Air ambulance to and from Turkey
A dedicated medical aircraft may be considered when scheduled travel cannot meet the patient’s needs. ESAT coordinates the aircraft arrangements, medical crew and ground ambulances as one transfer plan.
Hospital and ground transport liaison
The journey begins and ends beyond the airport. We coordinate the treating team, local transport and receiving arrangements to support discharge, documentation and continuity of care.

What we need to plan a transfer from Turkey
1. The hospital and destination
Give us the patient’s current hospital and city, the intended receiving location and any proposed travel dates.
2. An up-to-date medical report
Our team reviews the treating clinician’s information, ongoing treatment, mobility and support needs before recommending transport.
3. Clearance and coordinated handovers
We bring together airline or aircraft arrangements, medical personnel, ground transport and the receiving team’s requirements.
Turkey medical repatriation FAQs
Can ESAT arrange a medical escort from Antalya or Istanbul?
We can assess medical escort transfers from Antalya, Istanbul and other locations in Turkey. The route depends on the patient’s condition, airline approval, available flights and the agreed receiving destination.
Can you help if a patient becomes unwell after treatment in Turkey?
Contact ESAT to discuss the hospital, destination and current clinical situation. We review the treating team’s information before proposing transport. A ticket or planned return date alone does not establish whether a patient is ready to travel.
Who arranges airline medical clearance?
ESAT coordinates the required clinical documentation and airline liaison as part of the transfer plan. The airline makes its own decision about acceptance and any required travel arrangements.
Is Turkey-to-UK the only route available?
No. We coordinate both inbound and outbound transfers involving Turkey and suitable destinations worldwide, including journeys that do not involve the UK.
Can ground ambulances be included at both ends?
Ground transport can be included in the bed-to-bed plan, subject to local availability and the patient’s needs. We agree the departure and receiving arrangements before the journey.
How much does medical repatriation from Turkey cost?
Cost depends on the route, urgency, transport method, medical team, equipment, ground transport and flight or aircraft availability. ESAT provides a tailored quotation once the clinical and logistical requirements have been reviewed.
Can an insurer or assistance company refer a case?
Yes. ESAT can coordinate with insurers, assistance companies and hospitals about the proposed transfer and supporting information. Cover and any required financial authorisation should be confirmed before booking.
