The United States and worldwide connections
Medical Repatriation to and from the USA
Medical support across the full international journey.
ESAT coordinates medical repatriation to and from the United States (USA) for patients who need professional support during travel. We manage the clinical plan, transport arrangements and handover from the sending bedside to the receiving destination.
Enquiries may involve New York, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other locations. The hospital’s location and onward road journey are considered alongside the international flight.
Transfers can connect the USA with the UK, other European destinations, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East or other suitable locations. We support both patients returning home and agreed transfers for continuing care.
Long-distance journeys require the complete route to be assessed. We review the patient’s support needs during the flight, any connecting sectors, airport transfers and ground transport at both ends.
Medical transport to and from the USA
ESAT assesses scheduled-flight medical escorts and dedicated air ambulance arrangements against the patient’s care needs and the full route.
Medical escorts from the USA
A medical escort may support a clinically stable patient on a scheduled international flight. Seating, mobility, equipment, airline clearance and care during any connections are planned before travel.
Air ambulance to and from the USA
A dedicated medical aircraft may be considered when the patient’s needs cannot be met on a scheduled airline. Aircraft arrangements, medical personnel, any required stops and ground transfers form one plan.
Hospital-to-hospital coordination
We liaise with the treating and receiving teams about current medical information, discharge, receiving arrangements and the final handover. Local ambulance transport can be included at both ends.
