Medical Repatriation in Southeast Asia

South-East Asia

Worldwide patient transfers connecting South-East Asia with any appropriate destination.

ESAT arranges medical repatriation to, from and within South-East Asia for patients requiring safe, clinically supported travel.

We coordinate point-to-point transfers involving Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bali, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, Myanmar and neighbouring destinations, subject to operational and clinical assessment.

A patient may be travelling within the region or onwards to Australia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas or elsewhere in Asia. The journey is planned around the patient rather than a fixed route or destination.

Our hospital relationships and clinical coordination allow the sending and receiving teams to remain connected while ESAT manages the aviation, airline and ground-transport details.

South-East Asia medical transport options

ESAT recommends a transport plan after reviewing the patient’s clinical condition, mobility, location, destination and the practical options available.

Private medical aircraft can provide direct, time-sensitive transport with continuous monitoring, specialist equipment and an aeromedical team selected for the mission.

Commercial passenger aircraft used for an international medical escort journey

Medical escort and stretcher flights

For suitable patients, an experienced clinician can provide support on a scheduled airline. ESAT can also coordinate commercial stretcher arrangements where available and clinically appropriate.

Bedside-to-bedside coordination

We can arrange collection, hospital discharge, airport handling, the international journey, onward ground transport and handover at the receiving hospital or residence.

Regional hospital coordination

ESAT works directly with hospitals, clinics and healthcare providers to obtain the information needed for a safe transfer. This can include current reports, treatment details, mobility, oxygen or equipment requirements and confirmation of the receiving plan.

South-East Asia medical repatriation FAQs

Can ESAT arrange a transfer from Bali, Thailand or another island destination?

Yes, subject to the patient’s location, clinical needs and available transport. Ground or local air connections can be incorporated into a wider international transfer plan.

Can a patient travel to Australia rather than the UK?

Yes. ESAT operates worldwide point to point. The receiving destination can be in Australia, elsewhere in Asia or any other suitable international location.

Will ESAT speak with the treating hospital?

Yes. With consent and the necessary authority, we can obtain clinical information from the treating team and coordinate the requirements of the receiving facility.

How quickly can a mission be arranged?

Timing depends on the patient’s condition, documentation, permissions, hospital readiness, aircraft or airline availability and the route. Urgent and planned requests are supported 24/7.
